Bagan and the Pagodas

After the Chin State tour Jim and Hla Aung took the night bus back to Yangon in time for Jim’s flight home. Meanwhile, Todd, Susan and I spent a few days relaxing in Bagan.

In the Irrawaddy valley of Myanmar, this was the capital of the Kingdom of Pagan. At the height of its power in the twelfth century, an estimated 10,000 pagodas were built in the region, of which around 2,000 still survive.
